To mark this year’s Piano Day and as an acknowledgement to these unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in, Nils releases a collection of eight solo piano pieces titled Empty out now.
“The toughest part was over at least! After a long French-style dinner with my dear friend and film director Benoit Toulemonde in Berlin, I started to set up the recording of what would become the music for our short film, Empty. You may have never heard of it because its unusual editing techniques – showing completely black images for minutes, playing only music – never made it into a big “box office hit”. Or because we wanted the movie to be shown in proper cinemas while it’s not even 30 minutes long.

In celebration of the sixth Piano Day, Nils releases his acclaimed All Encores album on 3LP vinyl. Originally only available as a CD and digital download in October, All Encores encompassed the three Encores EPs as one full length featuring 80 minutes of music, orbiting his masterful 2018 album All Melody.
Whilst Encores 1 focused on an acoustic pallet of sounds with solo piano and harmonium at the core, and Encores 2 explored more ambient landscapes, Encores 3 sees Nils expand on the percussive and electronic elements in his work.
“The idea behind All Encores is one we had from before All Melody; to separate releases each with their own distinct musical style and theme, perhaps even as a triple album.
